Ales

More robust and with deeper hues than lagers, ales tend to have a higher alcohol content and feature hints of fruit or spices. Ales come in a vast array of styles including popular pale ales, ambers and blondes. Ales are noted for using a top-fermenting yeast. The dark, rich porters and stouts are also part of the ale family.

Lagers

Highly popular throughout Canada, lagers are lightly hopped and have a pale, golden colour. A light to medium-bodied beer, lagers are typically crisp, refreshing and feature a smooth finish. They are fermented with a bottom-fermenting yeast and stored in near-freezing temperatures.
